Psalm $52 Blowing on the Sidewalk

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I were going to church. At one point, I was like, "Why are we going this way? This is way out of the way."

He was like, "Oh, oh well. I guess we'll be late. We can't turn around now. We're on the freeway."
So we proceeded to go the round about way. Our conversation turned to how we both felt God was really talking to us strongly about watching our tongues. (This seriously diverted a fighting conversation of "What were you thinking? We're going to be late. Let's turn around, etc."

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

How true. How true! We also know that we have the power to speak those things that are not as though they be. We are made in the image of our Father and he spoke the earth into existence. (Gen 1:3, 1:26) Have you ever gotten into declaration mode, where you declare the truth of the Lord over yourself? It can literally change the atmosphere around you. There is power in our words!

As we were talking about this, Nathan pulled over to the side of the road, jumped out of the car and started running down the sidewalk. I was dumbfounded as I had no clue what was going on. He came back to the car and had two dollar bills in his hand. Then he saw more. He turned the car around and I jumped out to grab - two $20 bills and a $10 bill. In all we found $52 blowing on the sidewalk in area where the speed limit was 50 miles an hour! God literally opened our eyes to see not only blessing, but truth!

Needless to say we were extremely excited! (I was jumping up and down on the side of the road!)

Then we said, "God, what are you saying?"

We looked up Psalm 52.

Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The loving kindness of God endures all day long.

Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, O worker of deceit.

You love evil more than good, Falsehood more than speaking what is right. Selah.

You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue.

But God will break you down forever; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent, And uproot you from the land the living. Selah.

The righteous will see and fear, And will laugh at him, saying, "Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge, But trusted in the abundance of his riches And was strong in his evil desire."

But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the loving kindness of God forever and ever.

I will give You thanks forever, because You have done it, And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.

Now is that cool or what? We're talking about the power of the tongue. We get blessed with $52 bucks by taking the wrong way to church and then our conversation is confirmed with this scripture verse. I'm just in awe of God. He's amazing!
