Dreaming about Gemstones

Every morning I call my boyfriend and ask him what he dreamed. Most of the time he doesn't remember, but the dreams he does recall are usually pretty good.

In the last year he's had a series of the same type of dream. In these particular dreams he is picking up gemstones. Sometimes he's in a hotel and picking them up off the bed or floor. Sometimes he's in the back of a pick up truck picking them up and removing the dirt. Sometimes the gemstones are growing and multiplying as he's picking them up. Sometimes they are all one color and sometimes they're several colors.

The reoccurring elements however are: he's picking up gemstones.

In Exodus gems are labeled as stones used for the placement in the ephod and the breastplate for the priests. "The stones were corresponding to the names of the sons of Israel; they were twelve, corresponding to their names, engraved with the engravings of a signet, each with its name for the twelve tribes." Ex. 39:14

In 1 Kings, Solomon ordered costly stones to build the tabernacle.
'Then the king commanded, and they quarried great stones, costly stones, to lay the foundation of the house with cut stones." 1 Kings 5:17

In 1 Kings 10:10 "The Queen of Sheba brought precious stones to King Solomon. She gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and a very great amount of spices and precious stones."

Zech. 9:16 "And the LORD their God will save them in that day As the flock of His people; For they are as the stones of a crown, Sparkling in His land. "

In all these verses, gems hold value. They are precious. They have names. You could also say that people hold value, are precious and each of us has a name.

My flesh would really hope that this dream meant wealth and abundance, or maybe that he was going to find all these gemstones in the natural. (And give them to me!) However, I think the gems in these dreams represent people.

When you ask God, show me your heart and let me be a part of the things you love - it's only natural that he would show you the treasure inside people. People are His treasured possession.

In reality, my boyfriend works for Teen Challenge. (I describe it as a Christian rehab and discipling center.) So the dreams are fitting for what he is doing, mentoring troubled men and discipling them. He is definitely working with treasures that need some cleaning up.
What about you - Have you ever had a dream about gemstones? What about finding gemstones in the natural? I blogged about this one awhile back. Click here to read that post.
